  2. "Tainting the tea party movement with the charge of racism is proving to be an effective strategy for Democrats. There is no evidence that tea party adherents are any more racist than other Republicans, and indeed many other Americans. But getting them to spend their time purging their ranks and having candidates distance themselves should help Democrats win in November. Having one’s opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness." [Emphasis added]

Finally, someone on the Left who's honest enough to admit what this is all about.

  3. CT-
The Republicans don't have anything to be proud of in the fight against joblessness either.

  4. Ted-

The Democrats have held the White House and both houses of Congress for more than a year and a half now. At some point, "It's Bush's fault" isn't going to wash anymore.

In 94 days, we'll see whether that time has come.

  5. Like it or not, a clear majority still blame Bush for the current bad economy.

And it wasn't Democrats that blocked the new loans and tax cuts for small businesses, while wanting to renew tax cuts for the rich.

  6. By shifting the argument from racism to the economy, can I assume you're finally admitting, like Dr. Berry, that the whole "Tea Party = racist" meme has been nothing more than a political strategy?

  7. I didn't shift the argument -- you did. You can, of course, assume anything you want, but I still firmly believe the teabaggers are a very racist group.
