Majority Of America Supports Public Option

The Party of No and its teabagging friends have done everything they can to convince people that not only would a public insurance option be the dreaded "socialized medicine" (like Medicare I suppose), but that most Americans would be opposed to such a thing. But that's not true at all. It's just another right-wing lie.

The lie is exposed in a good post at The Osterley Times. It seems there's a new CBS/NY Times poll, and this poll shows that 65% of the American people are in favor of a public option health insurance plan along the lines of Medicare. The fact is that Medicare has worked (even though it got tougher when Republicans tried to bankrupt the program), and the American people know that.

Meanwhile, a miniscule 26% of the population oppose having an option for public insurance. The final 9% said they had no opinion. That makes the situation very clear. If the public insurance option is not included in the final health care reform bill, it won't be because the American people don't want it.

If the public option is defeated, it'll be because too many in Congress have been bought and paid for by the private insurance companies. I urge voters to vote against any senator or representative in 2010 who votes against the public option -- regardless of whether they are Republicans or Democrats.

  1. If you think the insurance companies are going to voluntarily lower our costs and their profits and their million dollar wages while having a monopoly over the process – well I’ve got a bridge to sell you …and I think Wall Street should be completely unregulated I trust strangers with my money, and pollution is good and airbags should be removed from all our cars.

Our market systems depend and thrive on competition; unregulated markets are a vicious roller coaster ride of boom, bubble and bust. The winner takes all mentality doesn’t take into account the whole system that’s what governments are for. The pure free market system is a myth. It doesn’t exist and as an economic model is anarchy.

At the end of the day vote your pocket book. Don't take up millionaire strangers causes as if they were your own. They have plenty of paid voices lobbying for them. Keep your eye on what is best for you and your family and the Country will be fine.
